Mary grew up in Loretto, Minn., the youngest of seven children. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1991 with a BA in journalism and biology. International travel, reading (especially memoirs), nature, politics and business top her list of interests. She lives in Minneapolis, Minn., with her husband, son, daughter and cat.
